A Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. Each of the two breeds were chosen carefully to compliment one another. The Poodle was chosen for its curly, hypoallergenic coat and the Labrador Retriever for its pleasant disposition and strong sense of loyalty. Both are highly intelligent breeds, ranking in the top 5 of the most intelligent dogs. The result was a smart and sociable dog who not only possessed a personality and demeanor appropriate for guide dogs but also had a low-shedding coat. Mini Labradoodles are wildly popular and very affectionate doodle dog. If you're looking for hypoallergenic dogs, labradoodles are a great option. What is a Labradoodle?
A Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. The Mini Labradoodle is a very popular and very affectionate mini doodle dog. Labradoodles have been bred for their loyalty and obedient qualities. They are fantastic family dogs, because of their ability to learn quickly and their desire to please their owners. Mini Labra doodles are becoming more and more popular because the size is ideal for even smaller homes or apartments. Micro Labradoodles or Teacup Labradoodles are even smaller than minis. If you're dealing with allergies however, you're going to want an F1B or F1BB Labradoodle so you have more poodle and less shedding. The more poodle they have, the less likely there will be an issue with allergies.
Understanding Mini and Teacup Labradoodle Sizes
Here are the estimated sizes:
- Micro Labradoodles: 5 to 10 pounds full grown.
- Teacup Labradoodles: 7 to 15 pounds full grown.
- Toy Labradoodles: 10 to 20 pounds full grown.
- Mini Labradoodle: 15 to 35 pounds full grown.
- Medium Labradoodle: 30 to 55 pounds full grown.
- Standard Labradoodle: 50-100 pounds full grown.
Labradoodle Generation
- Labrador Retriever x Poodle = F1 (50% Labrador Retriever & 50% Poodle)
- F1 x F1 = F2 (50% Labrador & 50% Poodle)
- F1 x Poodle = F1B (25% Labrador & 75% Poodle)
- F1B x Poodle = F2B (12.5% Labrador & 87.5% Poodle)
- F1B x F1B = F1B (25% Labrador & 75% Poodle)
- F2 x F2 = F3 (50% Labrador & 50% Poodle)
- F3 x F3 = Multigeneration (50% Labrador & 50% Poodle)
Labradoodle Traits
Labradoodles take on the best traits of both the parent breeds. The cross between these two breeds make terrific family dogs, being both friendly, & intelligent, as well as affectionate and easy to train. They are devoted to their family, and friendly towards children, other dogs and pets, and easy with strangers. They are very social dogs, and are happiest when they are with people. Mini Labradoodle puppies are generally easy to train, since they are very intelligent and eager to please. Teacup & Micro labradoodles usually do well with other dogs and pets in the household, and are really good with children.
Teacup Labradoodles inherit the fur qualities of the Poodle because most do not shed or they shed very lightly and may not produce any allergic reaction. The fur texture is that of a Poodle as well. Their curls are not usually as stiff though, and will tend to form a wavy or fluffy coat. From the labrador retriever it receives the pleasant temperament and strong loyalty that are associated with this breed. Both Labs and Poodles are known for being among the smartest dogs. Hypoallergenic Dogs
We have Red Mini Labradoodles, Black and Red Teacup Labradoodles, Cream or White Teacup Labradoodles, and Red Micro Labradoodles. We love all the awesome varieties! These beautiful puppies come with an assortment of colors but we always breed first for health and for temperament! Some like the Red Labradoodle color while others like the beautiful Chocolate Labradoodle. We like them all!
With Black Teacup Labradoodles or even with Black Mini Labradoodles you can sometimes end up with what's called a Blue Labradoodle. This unique coloring starts out looking like a black but as the puppy grows into adulthood their coat fades to a silver blue hue. You can see it easiest by looking at their skin color cause it will often have a bluish hue as well. We've had several puppies with this unique blue or silver coloring and we love it! With such pretty colors and a good haircut these Teacup and Mini Labradoodles often feel like a Plush Teddy Bear Puppy! They're just like a real life Teddy bear that hugs you back!
The shed-resistant coat our Mini Labradoodles have is great for keeping the house free of furry tufts, but it is also a magnet for dirt and bits from the yard. Whether you have a Mini Labra doodle or a Teacup Labradoodle, their fur can be dense and curly, and can hold pieces of sticks, bugs and, especially burrs. Their coat needs to be brushed regularly. We recommend daily, or at least twice a week.
The more Poodle in their genetics the better for those wanting a non-shedding and hypoallergenic dog. A first generation labradoodle is the result of a Labrador Retriever and a Poodle. This is considered an F1 Labradoodle. Because they are 50% Labrador Retriever and 50% Poodle they will likely still have some shedding as a result of the higher percentage of Labrador in them. When you get to the second generation labradoodle they are typically called an F1B. An F1B Labradoodle is the child of an F1 Labradoodle and a Poodle. An F1B Labradoodle has 75% Poodle and 25% Labrador Retriever. The poodle's coat is what makes the Labradoodle a hypoallergenic dog and non-shedding. So having an F1B Labradoodle that has 75% poodle, you are going to have less shedding than you would typically have with an F1 Labradoodle.
Non-Shedding Doodle Coats
An F1BB Labra doodle is the child of an F1B Labradoodle (first generation born to a Labradoodle) and a Poodle. This F1BB Labradoodle will have roughly 87.5% Poodle and 12.5% Labrador. These are even less likely to shed than the F1B labradoodle, but both are considered to be ideal when looking for a puppy that is hypoallergenic. F1BB Labradoodles are sometimes also referred to as Multigen or Multigenerational Labra doodle puppies. All this means is that the Mini Labradoodle was born to a parent that was also a Labradoodle. So if you're looking for a puppy that will a hypoallergenic dog, be extremely smart, and easy to train; then looking for an F1B Mini Labradoodle or F1BB Teacup Labradoodles or an F2B Toy Labra doodle would be ideal!
Labra doodles are very intuitive and empathetic to emotion. This makes them excellent companions no matter how you're feeling. Labradoodles are very smart dogs and learn very quickly; this makes them easy to train, which is the reason so many Labradoodles become service dogs, guide dogs, or therapy dogs. The Labradoodle
This "designer" hybrid known as the labradoodle became well known quickly and loved by many because of their family friendly, and disciplined demeanor. Bred to be a hypoallergenic dog, the Mini Labradoodle went on to prove that she could also be a versatile family dog, therapy dog, or service dog as well.
Our Teacup & Mini Labradoodles are from quality lines. We always breed for health and temperament before anything else. Our puppies make great pets as they are extremely intelligent, non-shedders, and hypoallergenic dogs. We love them most because they are sensitive, loyal and always affectionate. Clients, who make a deposit, select their puppy based on their deposit order. Selections are made at or around 5-7 weeks of age.
What Size is Best for me?
A Micro Labradoodle is happiest when she's with the people she loves, and she'll shower her family with affection and devotion. With the energy of the Labrador Retriever and the work ethic of both the Lab and the Poodle, she's truly a joy to have around. Our Teacup Labradoodles love being played with and cuddled.
Mini Labradoodles are estimated to be about 15-35 pounds. We start all of our Mini Labradoodles with litterbox training as well as crate training. Some litters have gone through a special pre-service training to prepare them for later training. We do our best to bring you a puppy you'll love long before bringing them home.
Micro Labradoodle Health
We frequently get asked if there are more health problems with the Mini Labradoodle or the Toy Labradoodle, because of the father being so small. Mini and Teacup Labradoodles are usually actually healthier! What most people don't know is that all small and toy breeds originally were bred down in size from larger dogs. Labradoodles actually have fewer health problems and they typically live longer. The smaller Labradoodles have fewer health problems, because they don't have the extra weight and size as standards do. Because they are smaller; smaller dogs generally live longer than larger dogs.
Because they are a hybrid breed, the resulting hybrid vigor makes them less susceptible to genetic diseases associated with purebred breeds. They grow healthier and live longer than both parent lines. The only genetic diseases they can be prone to would be those shared by both the Labrador Retriever and the Poodle. There health concerns in general are related to: CHD (Canine Hip Dysplasia), Von Willebrand's (blood disease), elbow and patella disorders. We breed with clean lines and strive to provide only genetically healthy Teacup and Mini Labradoodle puppies. Mini Labradoodle and Teacup Labradoodle puppies love to use their brains when they play. In fact, they thrive on training because it lets them learn new things and engages their brain. Being part retriever they have a natural instinct that makes them eager to serve and an athletic disposition that makes them fun to run around and play.
